About Us

Maxwell Communications was founded in 2001 by Daniel Maxwell and his family as a services based company focusing on the needs of radio stations transmitter sites world wide. Family and friends have helped in advisory and financial roles throughout the 23 years of overall work experience in broadcast radio.

Services offered by Maxwell Communications are due to a fortunate placement in 1990 in the Harris Corporation. In addition, many good and thankful thoughts also to go Dave Briggs, Charles Shoemaker, Cordell Loken, and John Morton - all mentors outside of Harris. Often it is discovered that overseas friends teach valuable lessons in getting along with what they have. Thanks go to these people from several radio networks in the USA and in foreign countries.

Listening to radio was an important thing as Daniel grew up in far away places such as Dahomey, France, Upper Volta, and the Ivory Coast. Daniel's mother listened to short-wave through out the day and it ingrained a sense of awe at how radio could be transmitted from one corner of the earth to another corner and be received with such a life-giving necessity.

The radio receivers were on in the market place as Daniel went to villages through out west Africa and people would turn their volume up so all the neighbors could hear the news as well. It was thrilling to see how people depended on radio for their sustenance as well as current events and instruction for how to live. This background bred a deep desire to spread the good news through the world and to help those who do the same.

In the 1970's Daniel traveled to locations where short-wave transmissions originated and grew to admire engineers from places such as Holland, Switzerland, and the USA. They were methodical, involved skills that were broad and mission critical, and needed to fix things in remote areas where Radio Shack didn't exist and you could not just go down the street to the neighboring Home Depot to buy supplies. Theirs was a daunting challenge but handled with a cheerful and skillful practice. They were well rounded with musical skills and had beautiful families and were also involved with community outreach. This is what Daniel wanted to be like when he grew up.

In 1985 he received a degree in electrical engineering at LeTourneau University. He continued his studies at Wheaton Graduate School in 1986 received an M.A. in Missions and Intercultural Studies in 1990.

Work began in late 1986 at the Criswell Radio Network in Dallas, Texas. There began the lifelong application of theory in practical circles, of the nature of working in a radio station where a broad set of skills are needed. Challenges are rarely the same day after day and so for approximately a quarter century, these skills are gathered and growing and there has not been a dull day, no way!

Daniel is married to Jacqueline and has one son, James. The family has traveled to the Ivory Coast, Italy, South Caicos, Bermuda, Alaska, and Brazil and currently resides in Duluth, Georgia, just outside the metro Atlanta loop.
